Last night I dreamed about My Hero Academia. I hadn’t watched it or read it recently. I wans’t in the dream, I was just watching it. But it was more like it was real rather than the show–though now that I type that, at the end it seems All Might’s voice was switched with Aizawa’s and I texted my brother to see if he noticed and I wondered how such a big mistake could be made but I found that I kinda liked Junichi Suwabe’s voice coming out of All Might. I figured it had to be an error with the script but I still couldn’t figure out how no one noticed the mistake and let it air that way. In another scene, the main villain was a lady resembling Blizzard from One Punch Man and she was lying the body of her dead friend/right hand subordinate woman to rest and whispering her really sweet farewells but two of her underlings were behind her, drawing kind of comical Drifters style–one looked like Yoichi from Drifters but was a girl–flabbergasted that their evil boss would say such things. There was this kind of thought bubble/inner voice of not-Blizzard that was like, “Oops, I didn’t mean for them to see this.” It was comical in a way that would fit Drifters or One Punch Man but My Hero Academia doesn’t treat its villains this lightly. Things were getting pretty bleak and people were dying and at the end Gran Torino and some other guy were sitting in space on a meteor and kinda dying but they had faith the kids would save them.
Then, because it’s Thursday, my alarm went off–and my alarm tone for Thursday is All Might’s entrance theme. So it was kind of surreal.
I hit snooze and I don’t remember the first part but then I was swinging into Sinclair to get gas. I realized my mistake and it was still open, and I try not to go when it’s open because they always try to come out and help and I just want to pump my gas myself. So I got out and got the gas going and swiped my card by the time the guy shambled out and he was asking me stuff and I couldn’t hear him. I thought he would wash my windshield which would be handy but he asked if he could do anything and I asked if he could fill my front driver’s side tire. So a lady came out of the office and stretched the air hose from inside the shop and he proceeded to fill it. I was pretty happy about that because then I didn’t have to take it in to get it done. Then that guy left and the lady who brought the hose out asked if I wanted her to mail the bill and I kinda freaked out wondering how much they were going to charge me just to air up my stupid tire but I looked at the bill and I said, “Well, the gas was on a card so the air is…$5.15?” I dug around in my wallet and gave her a $10 and told her to keep the change. Then the old guy turned into an old woman and we ended up talking about Jeeps because apparently now I was in the green Cherokee instead of the Commander and the lady was talking about how they all end up with tires like mine because of the torque and it’s a flaw and that’s why they don’t make them anymore. We both agreed that’s unfortunate because they’re really great vehicles and how my dad was bugging me about my Commander because it’s 10 years old now and he’d asked if I planned on trading it in and I said, “Nah, I’m gonna drive it till it dies,” because I love it so much and it has zero trade in value anyway. But we were both hoping Jeep would come out wth something like a Cherokee or Commander that was good off-road instead of just appealing to city people who want fuel economy.
Then I went to get back in my Jeep and I was in the parking lot at the grocery store and I got in the back seat after walking past a very old woman who was smoking and I thought, “That’s where that smell came from when I was in the shop.” But as I get in the back seat a grandma is in the driver’s seat (not my grandma or any grandma I know) and her son was in the passenger and there was a kid next to me and the mom I think was at the back hatch stuffing in groceries and there were plastic bags full of stuff everywhere and I was getting anxious because I had stuff in the car and now all this other stuff was mingled with mine and I just knew that when they got to their destination and took their bags out (seriously, the car was stuffed to the roof) they’d inevitably end up with some of the things I’d bought. I got more anxious as I looked around the car at these people I didn’t know and they looked like they were going on a vacation and talking about meeting someone I didn’t know and I all I could think was, “I’ll have to text Robin that I’m going to be late. I ended up with a family in a different dimension.”
Last night I dreamed that there was a final performance of rakugo at a theater and Hiroshi Kamiya was supremely honored to be the one doing it. This was my first dream of the night; I’d barely fallen asleep.
I had another dream that I was at work but I was considering getting a test done on my foot that required my ankle to be chopped off so they could scan and analyze the cross-section. The rehab after surgery required that I wear a skin-tight suit (I’m thinking like in Keijo) to strengthen the muscles. I was considering scheduling it between busy days.
I had another dream that I don’t remember really except I wasn’t in it, just watching it. There was even a narrator. My notes say: “Mormon families. Promised Neverland. The Village.” A man lost his arms but someone was able to put them back on. A little girl was kidnapped and I think raped (according to the narrator) but the man who lost his arms went and killed the kidnapper.
I had another dream about writing a bunch of shorthand of my dreams.
I had another dream where I was in the bleachers at a sporting event, I think football. Probably high school football. V was to my left, K was to my right with one of her kids that had sticky knuckles, and T was behind me, giving me crap about a $40 gift card I’d given to the freshman kid working for me.
Last night I dreamed about work. It was a high end fancy restaurant competition. I think truffles were involved. Robin was talking about some show she watched about the James Beard Award and some French phrases she was messing up because she couldn’t quite remember. I was getting irritated and thought the whole thing was pretty pretentious.
I had an instance where I woke up and my arm was cold so I knew I’d been out of body and that I needed to remember the three dreams I had so I thought of three keywords quickly and went back to sleep. (I did not remember them.)
I had another dream that I was playing with Chi and she was crazy and hilarious.
Last night I dreamed that we were at the lake and needed to leave but mom clogged the toilet so I had to keep flushing it so I could go to the bathroom before we left. Dad got mad that I was taking so long.
I had another dream that I was in my Jeep with mom and we were driving home and she was going too fast on the road that’s damaged. I told her to slow down because the bridge narrows to one lane and I was afraid she was going to hit the concrete barriers on either side. She didn’t slow down and I told her there was road damage and she was going to beat the shit out of my car. I braced for the bounce but it wasn’t as bad as I thought; it had been smoothed out some since the last time I’d driven over it.
My last dream before waking I was at work and we had a late large group come in and take the big table in the back. No sooner had they sat down than another group came in needing a spot for five. I told ended up putting them in the green room because it was quieter since they were having a meeting and the “RT guys in the back” are pretty noisy. The weird thing about this is the group of guys I’d seated in the green room were from RT also; I recognized one of them from real life. I had to go back to the kitchen and check to make sure we still had plenty of specials and corn pudding.
Last night I dreamed that I was looking for my other set of Invisalign retainers. I remembered I’d taken them to Toronto a year ago so I dug around in the travel bag I took and found them in a ziploc. They were all moldy and gross but I knew I could clean them up.
I had another dream that the characters from Polar Bear Cafe were struggling with this week’s Seth assignments.
Same suggestion as before.
Last night I dreamed that I was at work trying to take an order but the person was arm wrestling with the person at the table next to them.
I also dreamed I was kind of trying to seduce a guy who wasn’t at all responsive or ticklish and that was slightly disappointing.
I also dreamed that someone posted to the Seth forum that they didn’t feel they were accomplishing anything and didn’t like it at all.
Same suggestion as the nights before.
Last night I dreamed I was with my parents at a house surrounded by water. It wasn’t flooding; that was just the location. We were on the white porch of the house but had to go do something and that involved just swimming through the water to wherever. I think dad was carrying his cat. Once we started swimming I realized that it wasn’t that deep and when I actually looked, the water was crystal clear and I could see clear to the bottom. There was all sorts of colorful, neat coral and seaweed and other water plants/ground cover. I didn’t see any fish but there were muskrats swimming around us.
I had another dream but I wasn’t in it, just watching it. Gokudera from Reborn was there, an older version. His hair looked the same as his younger version but he had a long thin braid down to his butt that you couldn’t see from the front. Somehow, it got cut off and he was distraught and I don’t know who he was talking to, I think Tsuna, “It’s proof of how long I’ve loved you.” And the person–I couldn’t see them, but I knew they smiled–said, “Silly Gokudera. You are the proof.”
I had another dream in which I was in a hotel room planning a trip to another hotel because I was going to visit Australia. I’d been googling places and called this Thai-themed hotel in Australia and the concierge was very nice. She was telling me all about it and then offered to give me the wifi key to log into their server so I could see all the amenities; the key was “Angela” named after their favorite employee and when I got there Angela would be happy to show me around. (Also, I believe it was pronounced more Angella, like Queen Angella from She-Ra but it was spelled Angela.) Then somehow there were acquaintances in the room with me and they’d stayed at the same hotel and met Angela and said how wonderful she is and I made the comment, “Well, I don’t want to meet her then because compared to you guys she’ll think I’m a real bitch.”
While on the phone with the concierge I wrote down the number 1018; I think it was the room number I was supposed to check out online using the wifi/server password. Mom saw it and said, “$1018? That’s still pretty expensive!” and I said, “That’s not the price, that’s the room number” while thinking that a trip to Australia for three people (I don’t know who the other two people in this equation were) would be way more than $1018.
